    • Hallo,
    • Fliegen in Malta

      Hallo zusammen,

Was heißt das denn genau?

      Danke schon mal vorab!

THE DRONE CODE - first edition 2018 - revision 2020

#1: Never fly close to an airport. 2km away at minimum from it -- 5km is deemed the norm. If you're not sure, you can contact the airport traffic tower and ask them for permission to fly. Using Google Maps to check your flight area is a good idea.
#2: Never fly on top of people, crowds, or pets. You could hurt, injure, or worse.
#3: Never fly in cities. Radio Frequency signals might jam your signal, you could hurt people, hit wires, vehicles, buildings, private property, and break your quadcopter. (Hospitals have helicopter landing pads for emergencies and host sensitive radio frequency equipment. Ambassies often use radio frequency shielding around their building, cutting your signal. Etc.).
#4: Never breach the legal max ceiling of 200 feet (60m).
#5: Never fly without a spotter. Two pairs of eyes are mandatory. Why do you think planes have co-pilots? Your spotter can assess the situation globally and alert you if people are coming your way, etc.
#6: Never try to go too far or too high. Although your radio equipment is technically able to reach far, you should divide this by at least two to account for terrain perturbations.
#7: Always set a failsafe on your craft in case of signal loss. You never know when your equipment will fail. And it will fail. Fly-aways, power loss, signal loss, anomaly.
#8: Always reach out when you see people flying near where you are flying, in order to make sure your transmission frequencies or flights don't overlap. Plus, it's good to make new friends in the hobby.
#9: Always land immediately when you see a helicopter or a plane around you, and wait until the craft is away to resume your operations. Note its heading, as it is probably a common air route/heading used by aircraft.
#10: Always remove your quad’s propellers when you work on it at home. Don't be lazy. Remove your propellers.
      PRO Tips:
At a new spot you’ve never flown before:
#0 Have a look at the area in Google Maps. Measure. Take notes. Familiarize yourself with the area.
#1 Take it easy on your first battery. Don't take-off at full power as if you knew everything and wanted to impress your friends. They know. You know.
#2 Take your time to conceptualize your surroundings while navigating at a slow speed and gaining your bearings.
#3 Take mental notes of identifiable landmarks that could ease your navigation. A big tree, a patch of color, a mountain, some shape. Name them. You can lose orientation quickly and lose your quad heading away from your operations area. 90% of the time search and rescue parties occur because of disorientation. Remember #0, #1 and #2.
#4 Use the sun as a bearing if it is visible. Make a mental note of the angle/heading required to come back to your operations area according to the sun. We use that tip all the time.
#5 Assess the radio frequency interference areas while on your first reconnaissance battery. A lot of places have interferences, even in the deep wild. Be aware that interferences can occur in peculiar places. This will help you avoid panic when signal degrades and makes you fly 'differently' to recover.

      FPV with friends
#1 ALWAYS enquire about the frequencies everyone is flying with prior to flying. Take 5 minutes to agree altogether on frequencies used. If someone is already flying and you want to fly, wait for him/her to land, enquire about the frequencies. Do not plug your quad. You could cause a blackout on the video signal of the already flying party. We lost numerous quads (and money) because of individuals not caring for this very basic principle. Be responsible. It could happen to you!
#2 NEVER power your quad near your friends. A distance of 10 meters is mandatory. Agree on a take off zone, at least 10m away from where you operate.
#3 NEVER land your quad near your friends. Choose a designated landing area with your friends, at least 10m away from where you operate.
#4 ALWAYS unplug your quad after a flight on the ground where it landed. Don't take it in your hands. Leave it on the floor where it landed, unplug it, then grab it. Never bring your quad back plugged to where you operated the quad. See #2 and #3.
#5 ALWAYS call when you plug in your quad. Some of your friends might be in the air, and your frequency combined with others might resonate and affect RF signals even if you made sure you do not use the same frequencies.
#6 ALWAYS call when you land, so that people are aware you need space in the designated landing area.
#7 NEVER fly on top of the area where you operate.
#8 NEVER walk or stay in front of a friend who flies. You will block his/her signal. If you need to cross, go around and walk behind your friend.
    • @Peter200 Danke, kannte ich schon. :)

      @quadle Danke, super Hinweis!#

    • Drohne Fliegen in Malta

      Sehr geehrte Community,
